Celebrating UNESCO International Literacy Day

Our Executive Director, Anita Hillis-Krause, attended a celebration of International Literacy Day, in London. The guest of honour was Deb Mathews, the Minister of Advanced Education and Skills Development (formerly Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities)
Minister Mathews was visibly moved by the personal stories that some of our learners shared. She also stated that it was the best briefing that she had ever attended.
Meanwhile, our Premier, Kathleen Wynn, while honouring the recipient of the Council of the Federation Literacy Award in Kenora, said “Investing in Adult Literacy to help more people succeed in the workforce is part of the government’s economic plan to build Ontario up and deliver on its number-one priority to grow the economy and create jobs.”

There is hope!
